I dumped one packet into each pot with potting soil (cilantro, Italian basil, rosemary, mint, oregano) and within 3 days everything started growing! I have especially found that potting a few flowers near my herbs has been helpful. This creates a sort of mini ecosystem which attracts predator bugs that eat the small harmful bugs that can attack your herbs. I had to learn this the hard way my first year.
